You have no doubt heard the expression-you get what you pay for.
Why would a driving instructor devalue his services and have the stigma of being known as the cheapest in town? Quite simply, because he offers an inferior product which will cost you a whole lot more in the long run. The hidden cost is that 70% of all learners fail their first driving test (DSA official statistics)When you then take more lessons and add an additional test fee on average this will add around £142.00 to your training budget.
That’s the equivalent of £4.73 per hour or £9.46 for a two hour lesson.
So, all driving instructors should offer the same level of tuition and the same customer service shouldn’t they?
Well you would like to think so, but sadly this is nowhere near the case.
It’s a very sad reflection on the driving school industry that the vast majority of driving instructors never take any form of continued development training from the day they pass their qualifying exams.

It is vital that you understand why a particular action needs to be performed and it has nothing whatsoever to do with a driving test or to keep your driving instructor happy.
We receive countless calls every week from students who are struggling with their driving and frustrated at their lack of progress. We then find out that they have no idea why they should be performing a particular task and they do it because they were told to do it by their instructor without a full explanation.
UTTER RUBBISH, instructors who do not explain why something should be done and then gradually transfer responsibility to you by coaching and guiding you to independence are “DINOSAURS” and should become extinct.

I certainly never expected to grow the driving school to where it is now with twenty tuition vehicles covering virtually the whole of Somerset.
